How to Add a Bible Verse Widget to Your iPhone Lock Screen

Updated July 2026 · 5 min read · Works on iOS 16, 17, 18 and 26

Your Lock Screen is the first thing you see every morning and the screen you glance at dozens of times a day. Putting a Bible verse there is the simplest way to keep Scripture in front of you — no reminders, no willpower, no opening an app. Here is exactly how to set it up in under two minutes.

What you need

Step 1 — Activate the widget in the app

  1. Open SoulVerse and go to the Customize tab in the bottom bar.
  2. On the Widgets tab you'll see the Lock Screen Widget card — it adds the Verse of the Day to your lock screen.
  3. Tap it once so the widget is ready to appear in the iOS widget gallery.

Step 2 — Add it to your Lock Screen

  1. Touch and hold your Lock Screen (unlock the phone first with Face ID, but stay on the Lock Screen).
  2. Tap Customize, then choose the Lock Screen preview.
  3. Tap the widget area below the clock.
  4. Find SoulVerse in the widget list and tap the verse widget to add it.
  5. Tap Done in the top-right corner. That's it.

From now on, a fresh verse appears on your Lock Screen every day — the widget updates itself, so the first thing you see each morning is God's Word.

Make it yours

Inside SoulVerse you can tailor how the verse looks. Tap Customize on the widget card to change the background (calm skies, sunsets, night scenes), pick a font that matches your style, or choose one of the ready-made sets if you want a beautiful combination in one tap. You can also leave the Default widget toggle on, and the theme will change along with the Verse of the Day.
